San Francisco 2010

Back in July, the wife and I took a short trip up to San Francisco. We were there for about two days and the weather was overcasted (just how I like it). Lenses used were 35mm f2, 85mm f1.8 and a 14mm F2.8. These are a few of the images taken on that trip.

    Worth the wait!

Great series Ed! I love the tone it looks a little like old Kodachrome II. Oh and thanks for the defocused street scene and the tilt-shift looking image. A little something for everyone, right?

  • thatjustinguy

Great shots. I think my favorite is the tilt shift – perfect treatment of that subject matter!

    Happy birthday! :)

Your SF photos look GREAT. I like the way you tilted the pictures of the houses. I’m so used to our hills that I never noticed how weird the buildings really are.

  • eric.vanthorre

i love ALL your shot – the dof and the tone is what ticks for me – those are pictures I’d love to have taken.

I have been looking at these images again and again (just like I did to your photos in your photostream) but I cannot understand what sets these pictures apart from the crowd out there. They are just perfect. Its pretty clear you compose very well but there is something else going on. Could you post some composition tips and processing tips in your subsequent blog posts? Those ideas in your engagement blog post were really useful (I never realized I should stick with a tone for a set).

  • Jorstig

How do you manage to get so fantastic colours? Are you doing some “magical” post-processing? It is some twist to it, yet not surreal. Really nice!
